EDI and Data Transformation Programs and Solutions

We started our EDI practice towards the end of 2001 as a result of prior successful projects and demand from client and the marketplace overall. As an “offshore/onshore” outsourcing company we were looking for services we could offer our potential clients to complement our custom programming practice. It became apparent that while there is a vast amount of work in the Enterprise to develop and implement programming solutions, there is even a greater need for integration solutions where ‘good old’ EDI meets XML (link to XML Programming in SD), Web Services and new information delivery mechanisms (Web, Wireless, etc.).

Based on the experience we had in the past of building and maintaining EDI solutions for large companies in the logistics space, we were approached to assist in providing mapping support and application development for a Supply-Chain B2B portal, where EDI, XML (link to XML Programming in SD) and XSLT were the primary mechanisms of transforming data to and from business parties, and AS2, Value-Added Networks (VAN’s) and FTP were used as delivery mechanisms. The outcome of this exercise was a creation of a unique group located partially in the US and to a greater extent in Moscow, Russia, with the sole purpose of helping enterprises to resolve data transformation and integration issues related to EDI and legacy applications and their ‘merger’ with new technologies.

As the requirements grew in complexity and volume, so did our group, that now is fully established and educated in various types of EDI transactions and ‘dialects’:

  • ANSI X.12
  • EDIFACT
  • BAI
  • ODETTE, etc.

We are also quite agnostic about the tools and translators that the client wants to use. We are capable and willing to ‘dissect’ any transformation product you want us to work on, support, map or integrate, although our main focus is on mainstream products such as:

  • Mercator
  • Iway
  • Sterling
  • Open Source tools like Xerces

Following our general strategy we decided to create a training facility that would educate specialists interested in Business-to-Business integration. The curriculum has both – theory and practice in equal amounts. Our instructors go over standards accepted by various industries and organizations, data transformation and integration tools, as well as practical cases that review various scenarios that the students may face in real life. In some instances we may actually work on a real project that a student brings to the class.
