Leading Wireless Communications Software Provider Case Study
Leading Mobile Application Vendor is the worldwide leader of open IP-based communication infrastructure software and applications. The company's ™ Mobile Browser is a state-of-the-art micro browser that brings the full power and accessibility of the Internet to mobile phones, PDAs and other devices that use mobile communication networks for information access. Already in its fifth generation, this Mobile Browser enables mobile device manufacturers and Communications Service Providers (CSPs) to deliver content- and feature-rich mobile Internet services to subscribers around the world.
Challenge & Solution
XIM's client increased attention to product quality and usability, coupled with new financial realities led to the decision to outsource the product QA activities to a reliable contractor. After evaluating potential outsourcing partners, it became clear that US based software houses could not meet the Mobile Application Vendor's budget objectives, while 100% offshore solutions were lacking convenience of direct communication and control over QA processes. XIM's model was selected as a solution, satisfying both budget and business process requirements by having a project manager and small engineering team in Silicon Valley and performing the bulk of work offshore with up to 60% cost savings.
Implementation
During a 2-week transition period, XIM Project Managers and Team Leads adapted to the client's communication guidelines, including relevant project documentation and reporting standards, achieving 'transparency' of the outsourcing process to the client. XIM engineers were also trained to work with client's tools. Since the project start, XIM engineers have mastered client's testing framework (VSWAP) and achieved a higher level of expertise in WAP technology in general and in the area of Mobile Browser in particular.
Results
By some measures, the workload currently handled by XIM amounts to 150% of workload prior to outsourcing, with a significantly smaller budget.

Challenge
To build an electronic clinical information system that captures treatment, laboratory, clinical, and hospitalization information and provides readily accessible and centralized data effectively managing all electronic medical information. The system provides secured, web-enabled view for physician and caregiver access to the patient chart, including vital signs, laboratory results, treatment schedule and patient billing data. It also provides access to accurate patient information in a timely manner and is critical to providing quality care and reducing medical errors.
Solution
XIM team worked in conjunction with client managers to find solutions for above requirements. Designed to offer local and remote clinicians a secure, graphical and integrated environment, XIM built a decision-support tool that monitors and distributes patient care information. It provides users with on-line, real time access to the electronic patient chart based in a variety of formats. Information is displayed in a user-friendly format based upon individual preferences mimicking the physical chart.
A monitoring solution brings the clinical, financial, and optically stored data in a patient's medical record into one location for electronic access. Information is presented in a Web-based graphical view.
